Rebecca

Our mother Rebecca (Rivka), with her qualities of lovingkindness and giving, is a source of great inspiration for me.  Here, I’ve painted her figure with a vessel on her shoulder on her way to offer water to Abraham’s servant and his camels.  To me, the vessel symbolizes the vessel which contains plenty within it, and whose influence returns and hints to me that giving is in itself acceptance; the vessel also symbolizes the woman’s body, which is a vessel in itsel which contains life and gives life. This painting of Rebecca connects us to the strength to receive the plenty and the strength to give plentifully.
