Longing

In this painting, a figure is seen from behind, raising both hands towards the heavens and calling out to HASHEM.  I painted it after a great inner cry that built up within me in the cemetery visiting the grave of my father, may he rest in peace, and this painting was born out of that longing.  In the same way that a young girl longs for her father, I raised my eyes to heaven and searched for signs to know that someone was hearing my voice.  In this painting, I have created the head of a deer, which appears between the clouds as a hint to the fact that someone is watching me and hearing my prayers. This is a painting which expresses longing, the longing for my physical father, but also the longing for my Father in heaven, from whom my soul constantly thirsts.
