The Western Wall

The stones of the Western Wall have stood for more than two thousand years, bearing witness to the prayers and longing of generations throughout the long years of exile. This ancient wall, facing east and waiting together with us for complete redemption, carries within it the memory of the Temple and the hope of its return.

In my painting, a white bird symbolizes the Shechinah –  the Divine Presence, which has never left this sacred place since the destruction of the Temple. She remains here, accompanying our prayers and waiting with us for redemption.

“May our eyes behold Your return to Zion in mercy.”
